Concern:

Improper clutch pressure plate tightening or loosening procedures may distort the pressure plate housing causing clutch chatter.

Repair Procedures:





It is very important that when removing or installing the clutch pressure plate, the bolts must be loosened or installed in an alternating (star) pattern. Each bolt should only be loosened or tightened 2 turns at a time. Continue this pattern until the bolts are fully loosened or tightened.

When installing the clutch plate, always use new bolts, part number 999 510 015 02. Torque the bolts to 23 Nm (17 ft lb).
