Concern:

A - Rough shifting from second into third gear.
B - Rough down shifting from second into first gear.

General Information:
If a customer complains of rough shifting from the Tiptronic transmission, the hydraulic control unit (valve body) and TCM should be replaced.





The TCM (993 618 115 00) is the same part number as the earlier version TCM, however, the modified TCM is identified by a white adhesive label indicating the new software version "P503 C2525."

The TCM with the new software has been installed in production since November 15,1994; from VIN:

999 SS 322660 Coupe
996 SS 342227 Cabrio

The hydraulic control unit, part number 943 325 001 02 (previously 01), has been in production since January 16, 1995, from transmission number: A 40/04 1015241.

The new Hydraulic unit, part number 943 325 001 02, must only be used with the TCM that has the new software version "P503 02525". This repair requires prior District Service Manager authorization. When replacing a complete transmission on vehicles before the above VIN's, the TCM with the new version software must also be replaced.
