Some early production 911 Carrera Coupes received different production suspension components.

General Information:

Below is a list of VIN ranges and the suspension components that are different from production components listed in spare parts microfiche.

Production Version 1:

911 Carrera Coupes produced from December 21, 1993 to January 25, 1994 within the following VIN ranges: 996SS320073 to 992SS320281.

Note:
Four vehicles within the above VIN range were equipped with components that were subsequently instituted as Production Version 2. This was done to provide comparison vehicles for production. They are:

998SS320270
991SS320272

The following suspension components installed in Production Version 1 vehicles are different from the components installed in Production Version 3:

The following suspension components installed in Production Version 2 vehicles are different from the suspension components installed in Production Version 3:

Repair Procedures:

While each of the above production versions is acceptable, when repairing 911 Carrera Coupe or Cabriolet in Production Version 1 or 2 only Production Version 3 suspension parts are available. The following procedures must be followed when repairing Production Version 1 or 2 vehicles:

1. Front or rear shocks. Replace only in pairs.

2. Front or rear springs. Replace only in pairs.

3. Front and rear stabilizers. Replace both front and rear stabilizers together along with the necessary bushings.
