Notes About Adhesive Wheel Weights

General
- Balancing weights are affixed on the inside on Technology wheels (Turbo wheels) Turbo Look wheels, Targa wheels and Sport Classic wheels.
- On all other 911 Carrera wheels, the balancing weights are affixed conventionally (inside and outside).
- It is also possible to affix the balancing weights on the inside.
In this case, the balancing weights must be affixed very carefully to ensure permanent attachment.

Affixing The Adhesive Weights Conventionally
- Determine exact position of the balancing weights (if necessary, provisionally stick on the balancing weights with a strip of adhesive tape until the correct position is determined).
- Prepare bonding surface on the rim.
The bonding surface must be perfectly clean and free of grease.
- Remove protective paper from the bonding surface of the weight and press the weight firmly into place.

NOTE: Remove the protective film only immediately prior to sticking on the weight, as prolonged exposure to the air will reduce the bonding strength and, furthermore, there is a risk of soiling.

- The adhesive weight must be affixed exactly on the level ring surface of the wheel.
It must be in contact uniformly over the entire surface.
- Check to ensure that the balancing weight is seated firmly.
It must not be possible to detach the weight that was just stuck onto the rim by the application of a shear load at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the weight.

Example: Technology wheel/Turbo Look wheel

- Balancing weights
Type of balancing weights:
Adhesive weights as with conventional attachment (special version not necessary). See Spare Parts catalogue.

- Arrangement: Affix both weights on the inner side (arrows).(*)
Here, the outer weight must not be fastened in the conical area.
A cylindrical area intended especially for fastening of the weights is therefore provided just behind the rim spider.

(*) Observe program selection and operating instructions of the balancing machine.
