Engine Temperature Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
Assembly operations from top:
1. Remove charge air cooler, plug-seal pressure pipes.
2. Remove recirculating-air flap and rear heater blower.

3. In the left-hand section of the engine compartment, separate plug connection (2) of temperature sensor II (cyl. 3) (white connector). Detach retaining strip.

Assembly operations from below:
1.Remove engine and transmission underside tray.
2. Remove pressure hose between intake pipe and turbocharger.
3. Remove left camshaft cap.
4. Extraxt upper and lower rubber sleeve.

Special Tool 9291:

5. Unscrew temperature sensor using socket wrench, special tool 9291; while doing so, also turn the connecting line.
- Tightening torque 15 Nm (11 ft lb.)
