Fuel Pump: Testing and Inspection
Requirements: Fuel filter and power supply must be o.k..
- Remove intercooler, plug openings, remove heater air blower in rear left end of engine compartment.
- Loosen fuel return line from pressure regulator, using a second wrench to lock. Catch overflowing fuel.
- Connect Special Tool 9507 (connecting hose), Order No. 000.721.950.70, and route into a graduated vessel.
- Pull DME relay (R53) off the Central Electrical System and jumper connector terminals 30 and 87 b (marked 3 and 7 on Central Electrical System) with fused shop-made wire. The fuel pump should now operate.
- Allow fuel to flow into vessel for 30 seconds. Delivery rate must be at least 1,100 c.c/30 sec, at least 1100 c.c. fuel must have collected in the vessel after 30 seconds.
CAUTION: Observe safety precautions when handling fuel.
