Fuel Pressure: Testing and Inspection





- Remove heater air blower from rear left end of engine compartment.

- Detach brass cover from test port of fuel rail and take off cover.

- Connect pressure gauge of pressure meter P 378 or VW 1318 to connecting line 9559 and connect to test connector.




- Pull DME relay (R53) off the Central Electrical System and jumper connector terminals 30 and 87 b (marked 3 and 7 on Central Electrical System) with fused shop-made wire. The fuel pump should now operate and start to deliver.

Test specifications
Engine at standstill 3.8 + 0.2 bar
Engine at idle 3.3 + 0.2 bar

CAUTION: The seal in the brass cap cannot be replaced. The brass cover must therefore be used only once (Part No. 993 110 218 01).

Tightening torque of new brass cap: 2.5 + 0.5 Nm (1.8 + 0.4 ft lb.).
