Operation
When the doors are locked, the alarm system and passenger-compartment monitoring are activated in the "door safe" state (actuating door lock/transmitter once only). If the door lock/transmitter is actuated twice ("door locked" state), only the alarm system is activated. This mode must he selected if people or animals are in the vehicle. The doors are locked, but can be opened from inside. Opening the doors from the inside is performed in the same way as locking using the central locking button.
The state of the alarm system is indicated by the alarm readiness lamp in the center above the control panel:
- lamp flashes at 5 Hz during radio signal reception
- lamp flashes at 2 Hz for 10 seconds and then flashes at 0.5 Hz in the case of "door safe" function,
- lamp lights up for 10 seconds and then flashes at 0.5 Hz in the case of "door locked" function
- lamp lights up for 10 seconds and then flashes twice every 2 seconds in the case of emergency function
- lamp remains unlit for 10 seconds and then flashes twice every 2 seconds when at least one alarm input has been activated, a brief horn signal is also given.
The alarm inputs can be triggered 10 seconds after activation. The alarm horn, hazard lamps, and interior lighting are activated when the alarm is triggered. The alarm time depends on the respective variants.
If the passenger's side door is not closed properly, a brief signal from the alarm horn draws attention to his fact when an attempt is made to lock the doors. If the driver's side door is not closed properly, the vehicle cannot be locked.
The following components are monitored:
- both doors
- front and rear luggage compartment lid
- convertible-top compartment lid
- radio
- storage compartment in the center console
- passenger compartment
Furthermore, the following states also cause the alarm to trigger provided that the alarm system is activated:
- activation of the ignition
- key with invalid transponder code in the ignition lock
- removal of the radio
- disassembly of the alarm horn
- disassembly of the passenger-compartment sensor
- temporary interruption of the voltage supply to the control module
Passenger-compartment monitoring
The passenger compartment is monitored by an infrared system.
When the alarm system is activated, the passenger compartment sensor is also activated. This sensor then performs a self-test and calibration of the passenger compartment within 10 seconds.
If, within the following 10 seconds, a movement is detected inside the vehicle, the central locking leaves the "door safe" state and enters the "locked" state. Approx. 20 seconds must pass after activation of the sensor before an alarm is triggered resulting from the detection of movement inside the vehicle.
If the convertible-top is open, the infrared passenger compartment monitoring system is always deactivated.
Fault indication:
A double horn signal during locking indicates a fault in the passenger-compartment monitoring system.
