Date: 1-26-99
Vehicle Type:
Boxster
Model Year:
As of 1997 (V)
Concern:
Protective fleece for the soft top rear window (M550 - Hardtop option)
Information:
As from the October 16, 1998, new Boxsters with the M 550 "Hardtop" option are equipped with a modified protective fleece, which is installed between the folds of the rear window. The fleece prevents permanent pressure marks and chafing damage to the rear window.
The new protective fleece (986 563 855 01) can be reused and should therefore remain in the customer's possession. It is recommended to fit a protective fleece on the rear window on all Boxster vehicles in which the convertible top remains open for extended periods of time, e.g. when the hardtop is fitted on the vehicle. The protective fleece (986 563 855 01) is available as a spare part from the Parts Department, and can also be installed on 97 and 98 models. Please inform your customers accordingly.
