Daytime Running Lamp: Description and Operation

The daytime lights comprise clearance lights, side lights. registration plate light, and the low-beam light.

1. Functioning with light switch off
- Up to "ignition on" ignition key position: Daytime lights not functioning.
- Engine started:
Daytime lights are activated via engine-running signal. If the engine stalls, the daytime lights remain lit.
- Engine is switched off, ignition key in "0" position: Low-beam light is switched off, the parking lights and registration plate lights remain switched on. If the ignition is switched on from this position. the dipped- beam light is switched on again.
- Ignition key is removed:
Daytime light is completely switched off.
- Full-beam light cannot be activated in the above-mentioned cases - except headlight flasher.
- Instrument illumination does not function.

2. Functioning with light switch in position 1
- Parking and licence lights light up irrespective of daytime lights.
- Low-beam lights are also switched on when engine is started.
- Full-beam lights cannot be activated except headlight flasher.
- Instrument illumination functions.

3. Functioning with light switch in position 2
- Parking and registration plate lights light up irrespective of daytime lights.
- If ignition is switched on, full-beam or low-beam lights are also activated depending on the position of the full/low-beam light switch.
- Instrument illumination functions.

NOTE: If the "daytime lights" control module is disconnected and the light switch is switched on, apart the daytime lights the licence plate as well as the circuit for additional low-beam lights with full-beam lights are also inoperative.
