Standard Headlamps

The Boxster has compact headlamp modules in which main and full-beam headlights, fog lights, turn signal lights, and (as an optional extra) the headlights cleaning system are installed.

The main and full-beam headlights are designed as free surface reflectors. The plastic lens provides high stability with reduced weight.
The reflector comprises tiny surfaces calculated by computer.
The desired illumination of a road surface was calculated "backwards" to the reflector. The maximum permissible road illumination is optimally used despite the small light emission areas.

Light distribution for low-beam headlight

The headlights covers are made of polycarbonate plastic which weighs only half as much as glass.
A further advantage is the elasticity of the covers which are also treated with a scratch-proof coating.
This coating results in the surface being considerably less sensitive to stone impacts.

Caution: The new coating is very sensitive to incorrect cleaning. Dry cleaning or aggressive cleaning agents destroy the coating.

The headlamp covers should therefore be cleaned using plenty of water and a standard window cleaning agent.

As with the 911 Carrera (993), the Boxster's front headlights are slide-in modules.

The locking principle has been further developed in order to ensure improved handling and adjustment of the head lights module.
