Concern:
Belt squeal noises from the area of the hydraulic pump on vehicles equipped with manual transmission.
Information:
It is possible for some Boxsters equipped with a manual transmission to exhibit belt squeal type noises when the steering is at full lock and the engine falls below idle speed.
Therefore, as of February 13, 1998 production, and M96/20 engine number 65 W 10520, the hydraulic pump on Boxsters equipped with manual transmission is fitted with a new type steel pulley.
When addressing customer concerns in this area, it is recommended to replace the original aluminum hydraulic pump pulley with the new steel
Note:
The hydraulic pump need not be replaced!
