Oxygen Sensor

OXYGEN SENSOR:

Due to the stereo oxygen sensing system, the Boxster has two submersible oxygen sensors. These are potential-free, i.e. the DME control device applies ground to the oxygen sensor. The sensors are installed in each exhaust gas flow before the catalytic converter.

Oxygen Sensor Heating System:
The sensors are heated electrically as well as by the flow of exhaust gas. In addition, the oxygen sensor, injection and ignition relay is also activated when the DME relay is switched on. This relay applies a positive potential to the oxygen sensor heating elements. The DME control unit switches ground to the heating resistors.

Oxygen Sensing System:
In the Boxster's engine as with the 911 Turbo, mixture formation is regulated individually for each cylinder line (stereo oxygen sensing system). In addition, 2 oxygen regulators in the control unit, which are each controlled by an oxygen sensor before the catalytic converter per cylinder line. The oxygen regulation values and the adaptation data can be read out using the new Porsche System Tester 2.
