Reporting Boxster OBD II Related Repairs
Vehicle Type:
Boxster
Model Year:
As of 1997 (V)
Concern:
Whenever 0BD II related repairs are performed on Boxster vehicles, it is essential that all fault memory information be recorded and submitted with replaced parts.
Information:
If a Boxster vehicle enters the workshop with the MIL (Check Engine) light on, the fault memory must be read out using the Porsche System Tester 2 (PST2). The fault information is to be recorded on the form and sent to Porsche Cars North America Inc. along with the affected parts.
Important:
Do not erase the fault memory before recording the fault information. Failure to send this information with the affected parts, if any, will result in denial of warranty claim payment!
In order to facilitate recording fault memory information for submission to PCNA, the form has been developed to resemble the actual PST2 tester screens. Simply write the information as viewed on the tester directly on the report form. Attach a copy of the completed form to the repair order and send the original with any affected parts. If no parts were replaced, please fax the form with cover sheet to:
Porsche Cars North America, Inc.
Technical Services at FAX - 1 (770) 290-3711
Printouts of the fault memory contents are also acceptable. However, be certain to clear the working log of the tester before recording the fault memory of the vehicle being repaired. This will prevent the sending of information belonging to another vehicle. When sending printouts, it will be necessary to write the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and the vehicle mileage directly on the printout. We need the following:
- Customer Complaint
- VIN number and repair date
- Vehicle mileage/kilometers and repair order number
- Selected Actual Values information
- Number and description of faults
- Written information for each fault (use additional copies if necessary)
- Written description of cause of failure

Please record the fault description and information in the box provided below. Note that the configuration of your PST2 tester determines how the information values will be given. For example, PSI or mbar may be displayed depending on how your tester is configured. If necessary, write in the value units with the value.
Use additional copies of this sheet when more than one fault has occurred. Depending on the fault type, some fields may not contain information. These fields may be left blank. Information displayed in the fault detail screen that is not found in the box below should be written in.
Use additional sheets when more than one fault is recorded.
