Front Alignment Procedures


NOTE:
- Check and adjust wheel adjustment values only when the specified requirements are met, refer to General Preparation).
- If the wheel alignment is to be measured at both the front and rear, start by checking and adjusting the rear axle.
- For specifications. Specifications
- Tighten nuts and bolts to the specified torque after adjustment.
- For specifications, refer to to the component under Suspension.
- The adjustment procedures at the front axle differ only in details (adjusting value, tightening torques, new tie rods) from those of the 911 Carrera 2/4 (964).

Adjusting Camber





- The camber is adjusted by turning the spring strut with respect to the wheel carrier.
To do this, loosen the two fastening screws.
For the upper fastening screw, use special tool 9265/1 in combination with a torque wrench.





- Put eccentric insert 9265 on the upper screw head of the fastening screw (pan-head screw) and turn to adjust the camber.

Adjusting Caster





- Undo screw connection between joint mount and A-arm (two fastening nuts/No. 1).
Adjust caster by turning the caster eccentric (No. 2), thereby shifting the joint mount forward or rearward.

Adjusting Toe-In
- Preliminary operations:
Check if the steering wheel is offset with regard to the steering gear by removing the underside paneling and centering the steering gear with Special Tool 9116.
Try to achieve the optimum value when repositioning the steering wheel if required.
Then remove Special Tool 9116.





- Clamp steering wheel in center position using the steering wheel holder.





- After undoing the lock nut (No. 1), adjust toe-in at the tie rods.
Make sure the respective bellows is not twisted (damaged).

Toe Difference Angle
- The toe difference angle cannot be adjusted (modification is only possible if the steering arms are replaced).
