TIGHTENING TORQUES FOR THE ENGINE
Crankshaft/Crankcase
Connecting Rod Bolt (Identification: 14) (M9 x 1.25)
First Stage 30 Nm (22 ft lb)
Final Stage Turn 90° ±2 ° rotating angle
Final Check (refer to note below)

NOTE: Scribe a mark across knurled bolt and rod, then using a torque wrench, tighten to 60 Nm, if knurled bolt moves or torque cannot be reached replace entire connecting rod assembly

Oil Pump (M8) 23 Nm (17 ft lb)
Crankcase Bolt Connection (through bolts) (M10 x 1.25) 50 Nm (37 ft lb)
Hexagon Head Nuts or Bolts to Crankcase (M8) 23 Nm (17 ft lb)
Double Mass Flywheel to Crankshaft (M10 x 1.25 x 70) 85 Nm (63 ft lb)

NOTE: Refer to the Crankcase Assembly, Disassembly/Assembly procedure for proper tightening sequence.

Drive Plate to Crankshaft (Tiptronic) 90 Nm (66 ft lb)
V-Belt Pulley to Crankshaft (M14 x 1.50 170 Nm (125 ft lb)
Plug - Pressure Relief and Safety Valve (M18 x 1.5) 60 Nm (44 ft lb)
Oil Drain Plug
For Crankcase (M20 x 1.5) 50 + 5 Nm (37 + 4 ft lb)
For Thermostat Housing (M20 x 1.5) 50 + 5 Nm (37 + 4 ft lb)
Screw-In Neck in Left-Hand Crankcase Section
Oil Return To Oil Tank (M22 x 1.5) 70 Nm (52 ft lb)
Screw-In Flange in Right-Hand Crankcase Section
Oil feed To Oil Pump (M24 x 1.5) 90 Nm (66 ft lb)

Engine - NTC to Cylinder Head 3
10 to 12 with a max. of 15 Nm (7 to 9 with a max. of 11 ft lb)

Exhaust System

Catalytic Converter Final Muffler (ball clamp) 25 to 30 Nm (18 to 22 ft lb)
Final Muffler/Tailpipe (ball clamp) 25 to 30 Nm (18 to 22 ft lb)
Tensioning Strap to Catalytic Converter to Front Muffler 20 Nm (15 ft lb)
