Fault Code 8

8, Operating solenoid, R/P block
Faults are recognised in the wiring, the output stage and the solenoid itself.

NOTE:
- In order to prevent the selector lever from being moved (shift-lock), the Tiptronic control module connects ground to output B4 if all of the conditions below are satisfied at the same time:
- The ignition is switched on or the engine is running
- The selector lever is in position P or N
- The brake is not applied
- If one of the above conditions is not met, the selector lever will not be blocked.

Diagnosis conditions
- Ignition on
- Apply brake and release it again

Possible fault cause
- Short circuit to B+/ground or open circuit
- Operating solenoid is faulty
- Tiptronic control module is faulty

Affected pins
Connector B: Pin 4

Diagnosis/troubleshooting

NOTE:
- Leave the key in the ignition for these tests.
- If the key was removed, the ignition must first be switched on again in order to release the mechanical selector lever lock (key-lock).
