Installation of Chrome Plated Tailpipes

Model Year:
MY1999 (X) to MY2OO1 inclusive.

Concern:
Installation of chrome plated tailpipes

Information:
The standard tailpipes can be replaced with chrome plated tailpipes (New vehicle Exclusive option number X54). However, the chrome-plated tailpipes only fit MY'99 up to and including MY'01. Installation of the tailpipes does not affect engine performance, emissions, or noise of the vehicle.

Tools Required:

16 mm open end wrench

Installation Info:

1.0 Raise vehicle to working height.

1.1 Preparatory work, and removing standard tailpipes.

1.2 Remove both standard tailpipes.

1.3 Remove both clamps, widen them and fit them on the outlet pipes of the mufflers again.

2.0 Fit both chrome plated tailpipes.

2.1 Insert conical flange of the tailpipe underneath the clamp on the associated muffler.

2.2 Roughly align the tailpipe and clamp with respect to the muffler. Tighten screw slightly.

2.3 Align chrome plated tailpipes as described below:





- The distance A (see figure 1) from the rear spoiler must be 20 mm, and the tailpipe must be symmetrically positioned in the rear spoiler cut-out.

2.4 Firmly tighten the screws of the clamps.
