Recommended procedures when working with vacuum lines and hoses.

Information:

Care must be used when working around vacuum lines, particularly when connecting vacuum lines to rubber branches or connecting pieces. Proper assembly depth must be observed, for inserting a line too deeply into a fitting can cause blockage and may result in OBD II faults and customer dissatisfaction.





Vacuum lines must be inserted to a depth of 8-10 mm for proper operation. As an assembly aid, make a reference mark 8-10 mm from the hose end (with a felt-tipped pen or colored pencil) before assembly, and insert the hose to this depth. Vacuum lines with a raised bead should be inserted to the depth of the bead. Only use water as an assembly lubricant.

Replacement vacuum line typically comes in one length, and must be cut to specification. Be certain there are no obstructions or kinks in the line prior to assembly.
