Concern:
Inner door release mechanism does not operate.

Information:
It is possible for the inner door release bowden cable to disengage or shear at the inner door release handle. Should this occur, the inner door release will not function.

A modified inner door release mechanism and bowden cable were installed in production as of September 21, 1998, and as of VINs:

99 _XS 62 3890
99 _XS 65 2308

In the event of an "Inner door release does not function" complaint, the inner door release handle and the bowden cable must be replaced.

Note:
Since the previous version parts are not compatible with the new inner door release parts, both components should be replaced when repairing vehicles prior to the above VINs. The former inner door release handle, inner actuating lever and bowden cable are no longer available.
