Concern:
This is to inform you of a voluntary Service Action on certain 1999 model year 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera 4 vehicles. Porsche AG has initiated this Service Action pertaining to a potential corrosion problem because of insufficient protection in the seam area of the Rear Engine Deck Lid. Therefore, we ask that the vehicle be inspected during the Porsche Owner's next visit to your workshop.
Affected Vehicles:
A total of 10,872 U.S. and 634 Canadian vehicles fall within the scope of this service action. Vehicles that have been delivered with the sales option XAA (Aerokit), or which may have been retrofitted with this kit are not affected.
The Vehicles involved are random VINs that were produced prior to the Production Date listed below.
These Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) will be listed in the World Warranty System (WWS) as an open "Service Action" and must be completed if the vehicle is in your shop.

As a guideline, the affected Vehicle Identification Numbers are contained in the following VIN-Ranges:

All vehicles from Production Date: May 28, 1999 have been checked and are not involved:

Customer Notification
Porsche Cars North America, Inc. will notify all known Vehicle Owners directly by First Class Mail during the week of January 8, 2001, as per Notification Card as shown.
