Attachment B - Work Procedure
Tools Required:Porsche System Tester 2 (PST2) with software version 12.0 or later.
Work Procedure:
This campaign only includes programming the DME. If other repairs are necessary they must not be invoiced under this campaign number. They must be submitted on a separate warranty claim.
CAUTION!
The following programming sequence of the DME must not be interrupted.
If the programming sequence is interrupted (i.e. PST2 is switched off or vehicles battery voltage falls below permissible limits), the DME control unit will no longer be functional. If necessary, connect a battery charger to the vehicle before programming the DME.
1. Connect the PST2 to the diagnostic socket.
2. Switch on the ignition, then the PST2.
3. Select 996 and start the control unit search.
4. Select DME then select "Fault memory"
5. If one or more of the faults shown is stored in the fault memory, check to see what fault type is assigned to the fault.
6. If the text "Signal Implausible" appears as the fault type and no other faults are stored in the fault memory, the program map should be reprogrammed.
Note:
With this fault type, the oxygen sensor is not defective and need not be replaced. Continue with step number 8.
7. If the text "Open circuit", Exceeds limit value", or "Below limit value" appear as the fault type or if other fault codes are also stored which do not refer to the oxygen sensor heating, the faults must be diagnosed and remedied according to the OBD II manual (DME 7.2).
Note:
If other repairs are necessary they must not be invoiced under this campaign number. They must be submitted on a separate warranty claim After repairing the faults, continue with step 8.
8. Return to the menu "Function selection" and select "Control unit programming".
9. Select title "Program map".
10. Enter the DME reprogramming code.
11. Select the proper data record depending on the transmission type: OBD II (LEV, manual transmission), or "OBD II (LEV, Tiptronic)".
12. Check wether CAN bus faults have been stored in the fault memory of the Tiptronic and ABS/PSM control unit. Erase if they are present.
13. Return to the start menu with "ESC" and switch off the PST2. Disconnect the PST2 from the diagnostic socket.
