Drive Plate Tightening Torque

Concern:
Tightening torque for new drive plate in Tiptronic vehicles.
Information:
As of January 31 2002, a new one-piece drive plate is installed on engines equipped with a Tiptronic Transmission.
The starter ring gear and the sensor ring gear of the new drive plate are now manufactured from one piece. Previously the drive plate was two parts, which were welded together.
The tightening torque for drive plate to crankshaft has been changed.
Tightening torque for new one-piece drive plate:
^ Initial tightening torque 25 NM (18.5 ft lbs).
^ Final tightening torque 1 x 120-degree torque angle.
Tightening torque for old two piece drive plate:
^ Initial tightening torque 25 NM (18.5 ft lbs).
^ Final tightening torque 1 x 90-degree torque angle.
Note:
Always replace the torque converter drive plate bolts (Part Number 999.073.091.09 - 8 ea.).
