Work Procedure

1. Preparatory work.

1.1 Remove battery cover. Disconnect and cover the battery.

1.2 Remove radio, both switch covers and the electrical heating/air-conditioning regulator (Technical Manual, Group 7, Serv. No. 7018).

1.3 Remove both side covers (footwell area) on the center console (Technical Manual, Group 6, Serv. No. 6817).

1.4 Remove CD/cassette or oddments tray and the center console.





1.5 Lay and affix the connection lines for the radio into the lower DIN1 slot so that it cannot be chafed (Figure 3, Item A).

1.6 Lay the connection lines for the electrical heating/air-conditioning regulator.

1.6.1 Lead the lines back along the course beneath the instrument panel, to a length of approx. 20 cm.

1.6.2 Lay the lines next to the center console into the center console holder (Figure 3, Item B).

1.6.3 Guide the plug-in couplings individually from behind through the opening in the holder (Item B) towards the shift lever.

2. Install both cupholders into the retaining frame (Figure 2, Item D).








2.1 Insert the cup holder from behind into the retaining frame while observing the guide on the lower side (Figure 4) and the rib (Figure 5) on the upper side.

2.2 Push the cupholder into the retaining frame as far as it will go, until all the guides are sitting properly in the supports provided.

2.3 Install the second cupholder in the same way.

3. Install cupholder into the upper DIN1 slot.





3.1 Insert adapter into the side wall of the DIN1 slot as far as it will go, in accordance with Figure 6, until the locking tabs (Item A) engage into the rib in the side wall.

3.2 Install second adapter into the opposite side.

3.3 Push the cupholder with the retaining frame carefully into the DIN1 slot. Make sure that the side adapters do not become loose.

3.4 Tightly fasten the retaining frame onto the adapters with the four 4.2 x 25 sheetmetal screws.
Tightening torque: 1.0 Nm (1.0 ft lb.).

3.5 Clip the cover trim into the 4 grommets on the retaining frame.

4. Concluding work.

4.1 Install the radio into the DIN1 slot below the cupholder.

4.2 Install the electrical heating/air-conditioning regulator into the lower slot in the center console (Technical Manual, Group 7, Serv. No. 7018).

4.3 Clip the cover, which is ordered separately, onto the electrical heating/air-conditioning regulator.

4.4 Install the centre console (Technical Manual, Group 6, Serv. No. 6817) and the remaining parts.

4.5 Connect battery and fit battery cover.

4.6 Set the time on the clock and enter radio code.
