Information:
A new passengers airbag has been installed as from the introduction date below. Simultaneously, the plug connection or the 2-pin plug on the airbag has been changed.
Identifying features:
The new airbag is identifiable only by means of the new part No. The 2-pin plug is colored green (was yellow) and has a different shape.

The new airbag can be retroactively installed during repair work. For installation in vehicles prior to the above-mentioned introduction date, service wiring harness, Part Number, 996 612 030 00 must be used additionally.

Work Procedure:
Install new passengers airbag in vehicles prior to the above-mentioned introduction date. The service wiring harness with the green 2-pin plug must be additionally installed in this case.
1. Remove the passenger's airbag from the dashboard, see 911 Turbo Technical Manual, Group 6, Chapters 69-1 - Safety regulations for airbag vehicles and 69-6 - Removing and installing the passenger's airbag unit.
2. As far as possible, cut off and tie the existing wiring harness to the passenger's airbag (with yellow 2-pin plug) on the main wiring harness.
3. Starting from the airbag, route the service wiring harness downward to the airbag control unit (on the center console). To facilitate threading of the wiring harness, tape together the two wires in the area of the receptacles.
4. Work on the airbag control unit connector assignment.
4.1 Remove the 50-pin plug from the airbag control unit, see 911 Turbo Technical Manual, Chapter 69-5 - Removing and installing the triggering unit for the airbag.
4.2 Open the plug, refer to the operating instructions of the repair kit for wiring harnesses from Messrs. Cartool - Unlocking socket and pin housings. Press the plug housing out of the plug using press-out tool 89072.
4.3 Unlock the contact spring in housing socket 13 with press-out tool 90207 and remove (wire color: white/brown). Cut off the wire as far as possible.
4.4 Insert the contact spring with the wire color white/brown from the service wiring harness into housing socket 13 and lock into place.
4.5 Work on housing socket 14: Unlock and remove the contact spring (wire color: pink) and cut off the wire as far as possible.
4.6 Insert the contact spring with the wire color red/violet from the service wiring harness into housing socket 14 and lock into place.
4.7 Assemble the plug, plug it into the airbag control unit and lock it.
5. Work on the service wiring harness.
Warning!
Wires can be damaged if routed improperly.
> Then routing the wiring harness from the airbag control unit to the airbag unit, use adhesive tape to fasten it at suitable locations (e.g. body, accessories and other wiring harnesses).
> Do not lay the wiring over sharp edges or burrs.
6. Remove the adhesive label with the production number from the passenger's airbag and stick it into the chapter "Record of Airbag System Check" in the "Maintenance" manual.
6.1 Install the airbag and connect the wiring harness to the airbag.
Note:
Secure the plug connection on the passenger's airbag by locking the plug (Figure 1). It must be possible to hear and feel the upper part of the lock on the airbag plug engage.
6.2 Tie the wiring harness near the airbag.
