Lumbar Position Deleted From Seat Memory

Vehicle Type:
911 Turbo (996)

Model Year:
As of 2001(1)

Concern:
Lumbar support can no longer be controlled via seat memory.

Information:
The lumbar support position in the seat memory function has been omitted as of August 15th, 2000 from the vehicle identification number 99 01S 68 5781.

As a result the lumbar support position is no longer automatically adjusted when the seat memory is activated. It must be manually adjusted.

With the introduction of the key programmed seat memory, the pre-selected positions are reached before entry into the vehicle. To accurately adjust the lumbar support, there has to be counterpressure against the back of the seat from the driver or the passenger.

The lumbar seat memory function was deleted because there is no way to ensure accurate adjustment of the lumbar position with the use of the key head button.

This change was not published in the 2001(1) Driver's Manual. In case of customer complaints, please explain the change to them.

Note:
Please give a copy of this bulletin to the sales department.
