Loud whistling noise from the engine area.

Information:

A loud whistling noise can be heard from the engine area while driving the above-mentioned vehicles. The noise can be heard clearly both inside and outside the vehicle. The noise goes away for a short period when pressing the clutch pedal.

This noise is caused by the pressure control valve in the steering oil reservoir. This valve vibrates strongly when hydraulic oil flows through it at oil temperatures of more than 212°F. (100°C). To remedy this concern, steering oil reservoirs with a modified pressure control valve have been installed in vehicles manufactured since February 23, 2005.

In the event of a customer complaint on vehicles produced before the above-mentioned production date, the complete steering oil reservoir must be replaced with the steering oil reservoir with the modified pressure control valve, part number, 996.314.920.34.

Attention!
Risk of damage to the steering system from metal filings from the threaded bores of the steering oil reservoir.
> Always replace complete steering oil reservoir! It is not permissible to replace just the lid of the steering oil reservoir.
