Concern:
Modified (outer) trim caps for the front seat rails.
Information:
This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Service Action on certain 2003 model year Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo vehicles. A sharp edge on the outside of the trim caps could damage items of clothing. A modified cap with a rounded edge must be installed.
Therefore, we ask that the affected vehicles listed below have their left and right seat outer rail trim caps replaced during the Porsche Owner's next visit to your workshop.
Affected Vehicles:
A total of 689 U.S. and 46 Canadian vehicles fall within the scope of this Service Action.
Very Important! Not every vehicle in the below listed range may be affected. Use the ranges below as a general guideline
Refer to Attachment "A" to determine if a particular vehicle is eligible for this service action. Alternatively, the VIN can be checked in the Porsche e-DCS/WWS for confirmation of an open service action.
The affected Vehicle Identification Numbers are contained in the following VIN-Ranges:
Model Year 2003, US and Canadian Vehicles

Time Allowance:
30 TU which includes replacing both caps on the front seat outer seat rails.
Attachment "B"
Work Procedure:
Replacing both caps of the outer seat rails.
1. Move the front passenger's seat back and up as far as possible.
2. Use a screwdriver to release the cover (Figure 1, arrow A) in an upward direction and remove.
3. Pull the cap off the outer seat rail to the front (Figure 1, arrow B).
4. Unclip the plastic guides from the new cap for the outer seat rails. They are not required.
Note:
The old plastic guide is screwed to the seat rail and must be re-used.
5. Slide the new seat rail cap onto the outer seat rail from the front (Figure 2, arrow A).
6. Insert the cover, (Figure 2, arrow B) into the rear guide and press it down at the front until it snaps into place.
7. Move the seat back to its original position.
8. Proceed the same way for the driver's seat.
9. Enter the campaign into the Warranty and Maintenance book.
