Electric Malfunctions Due To Water Leaking Into The Vehicle Interior
Vehicle Type:
Cayenne/cayenne S/Cayenne Turbo
Model Year:
As of 2003
Concerns:
Water leakage in the interior of the vehicle.
Situation:
- Main wire harness connection points corroded,
- CAN data bus error.
Water leaking into the interior of the vehicle - e.g. if the vehicle was left with the sunroof open while it was raining and thereby causing the carpets and insulation to get damp, this can result in corrosion at the main wire harness connection points in the footwell of the vehicle and can cause errors on the CAN data bus.
Action Required:
Check the area inside the vehicle for damp carpets and insulation, if they are damp, check the main wire harness connection points for corrosion and repair them if necessary.
Note
The procedure for checking and repairing the main wire harness is described in the Workshop Manual using the right-hand side of the vehicle as an example, --> Workshop Manual "970949 Reworking main wire harness".
