Concerns:
Checking "Kick down adaptation" is not possible whening replacing a accelerator pedal module and/or DME control module. On vehicles with Tiptronic transmission (I No.249)
Information:
For the above-mentioned vehicles with Tiptronic transmission, a "Kick down adaptation" is shown to be faulty, even if the adaptation was completed "free of faults".
The reason for this is a software error in the DME control module. The software error has been corrected for vehicles as of model year 2005 (5) and the Kick-down adaptation can be carried out with the diagnostic tester as provided.
In order to ensure that the Kick down function is activated for the correct accelerator pedal position, proceed as follows on vehicles up to model year 2004.
Work Procedure:
1. Introductory work.
1.1 Connect charger.
1.2 Connect the Porsche System Tester 2 (PST2) or PIWIS Tester to the vehicle and start.
1.3 Switch on ignition.
2. Carry out "Kick down adaptation".
2.1 Select "Cayenne" vehicle.
2.2 Open "DME" menu.
2.3 Open "System adaptation" menu.
2.4 Open "Kick down adaptation" menu.
2.5 Carry out Kick down adaptation in accordance with instructions of the PST2 PIWIS Tester.
2.6 Close "Kick down adaptation" menu.
2.6.1 The "Kick down adaptation" menu entry is marked with a red "X" as "not carried out".
-->Ignore this fault message.
3. Check "Kick down adaptation".
3.1 Close "System adaptation" menu.
3.2 Open "Input signals" menu.
3.3 Select "kick down" input signal.
3.4 Press accelerator pedal up to first stop, without overpressing the mechanical resistance.
3.4.1 Display in Tester display "not actuated":
--> Kick down adaptation has been carried out correctly, --> continue with step 4.
3.4.2 Display in Tester display "actuated":
--> Perform "Kick down adaptation" again, --> continue with step 2.
4. Concluding work.
4.1 Switch off the ignition.
4.2 Switch off the PST2 or PIWIS Tester and disconnect from vehicle.
4.3 Disconnect charger from vehicle.
