Information:
This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Service Action on certain 2003 and 2004 model year Cayenne Turbo vehicles. Certain optional steering wheels were unavailable during time of production. A substitute steering wheel was installed in its place.
Therefore, we ask that the affected vehicles listed below have their steering wheels replaced during the Porsche owner's next visit to the workshop.
Affected Vehicles:
A total of 113 U.S. and 4 Canadian vehicles fall within the scope of this Service Action.

Not every vehicle in the below listed range may be affected. Use the ranges below as a general guideline
Refer to Attachment "A" to determine if a particular vehicle is eligible for this service action. Alternatively, the VIN can be checked in the Porsche e-DCS/WWS for confirmation of an open service action.

0-50 Nm (37 ftlbs) torque wrench
Caution!
Danger of injury and damage to property as a result of incorrect handling of airbag units
> Remove ignition key. Disconnect the battery and cover the battery terminal
> With a charged capacitor, disassembly work can result in unintentional triggering of the airbag.
> Begin work on the vehicle only after a waiting time of one (1) minute
Work Procedure:
Replacing the steering wheel.
1. Remove steering wheel as described in the Technical Manual, Group 4, Chapter 48 10 19. The removal and installation instructions for the driver's airbag unit from the Technical Manual, Group 6, Chapter 69 58 19, are enclosed as an appendix.
2. Transfer the parts from the old steering wheel to the new steering wheel.
3. Center the steering wheel in straight-ahead position and tighten it with a torque of 50 Nm (37ftlb.). Important: Use new internal-serration screw, part number, N 910 207 01.
Enter the Service Action into the Maintenance book.
