Removing And Installing Convertible Top

Overview of convertible-top components







The convertible top is actuated up to model year 2002

if:
- Terminal 15 is connected via ignition.
- The parking brake input is connected to ground (parking brake engaged).
- No speedometer signals greater than 5 km/h (3 mph) are present.
- Engine compartment lid is closed (input not at ground potential).

The convertible top is actuated as of model year 2003

if:
- Terminal 15 is connected via ignition.
- The parking brake input is connected to ground (parking brake engaged).
- No speedometer signals greater than 50 km/h (30 mph) are present.
- Engine compartment lid is closed (input not at ground potential).


Removing convertible top







CAUTION: Damage to or destruction of the tension bow seal. During the procedure convertible top in service position.
- Proceed according to procedure No. 1 in order to avoid damage to or destruction of the tension bow seal.













Installing convertible top













CAUTION: Damage to hydraulic system if hydraulic lines are trapped or crushed during installation
- Pay special attention when routing the hydraulic lines in the clips.
