Wheels: Testing and Inspection

Checking disc wheels

Checking the radial and lateral runout
The measuring points for radial and lateral runout on the inside of the wheel are given on the drawing (dimension "a").

Maximum permissible radial runout and lateral runout of the light alloy wheels = 0.7 mm.

Maximum permissible radial runout and lateral runout of the wheel with tire = 1.25 mm. Values less than 1.0 mm - preferably around 0.5 mm - are desirable.

Please Note! Straightening and welding work on light alloy wheels is not permissible.

Dimension "a" = 8 mm

Note!
^ Use a tire measuring gauge - e.g. V.A.G. 1435 - to measure wheels without tyres and wheels with tyres.
