Knock Sensor: Service and Repair



Removing And Installing Knock Sensor (Engine Removed) - GT3

Removing knock sensor, cylinder bank 1 - 3
1. Disconnect plug -lower arrow- of the knock sensor and set it aside.







2. Unscrew M8 hexagon-head bolt -upper arrow- of the knock sensor and remove the knock sensor.

Installing knock sensor, cylinder bank 1 - 3
1. Clean contact surface for the sensor on the engine block.

CAUTION: The precise tightening torque for the knock-sensor screw must be observed, otherwise the knock sensor might not function properly.

2. Put on the knock sensor, then screw in and tighten the M8 hexagon-head bolt -upper arrow-.







3. Insert plug -lower arrow- of the knock sensor.
Tightening torque for hexagon-head bolt 23 Nm (17 ft.lb.)

Removing knock sensor, cylinder bank 4 - 6
1. Remove the oil container.
2. Pull off plug of the knock sensor -lower arrow-.







3. Unscrew M8 hexagon-head bolt -upper arrow- and remove the knock sensor.

Installing knock sensor, cylinder bank 4 - 6
1. Clean contact surface for the sensor on the engine block.

CAUTION: The precise tightening torque for the knock-sensor screw must be observed, otherwise the knock sensor might not function properly.

2. Put on the knock sensor, then screw in and tighten the M8 hexagon-head bolt -upper arrow-.







3. Reconnect plug of the knock sensor -lower arrow-.
Tightening torque 23 Nm (17 ft.lb.)

4. Install the oil container.
