- New maps (NAVTECH CD).
- PCM2: Modified system software and new maps.
- BOSE amplifier: Modified amplifier software.
Information:
As of August 25, 2003, the PCM2 system software and the BOSE amplifier software have been modified. If replacement of the PCM2 or BOSE amplifier is required, only the new PCM2 or BOSE amplifier with part numbers ending in 05 will be available once existing supplies have been used up.
Therefore, if replacement of the PCM2 or BOSE amplifier is required, the part number of the delivered spare part must be noted before installation (due to the fact of existing inventories may include both versions).
- For the PCM2, the necessary PCM2 system software may have to be installed, depending on the NAVTECH CD used and the part number of the PCM2 delivered (Allocation Table RCM2"). It is essential to ascertain which NAVTECH software version the customer is using before the PCM2 operating system software is installed.
- The new BOSE amplifier software should always be used for the BOSE amplifier (911 Carrera (996) Technical Information Bulletin Grp. 9 # 15/03). This is particularly important when using the new NAVTECH CD 2003.1 in the PCM2.
Depending on the part number of the BOSE amplifier delivered, the new BOSE amplifier software must be installed (version "00011929"), as shown in the "Allocation Table, BOSE Amplifier".

7.7 After a PCM2 update to software version "3.0":
Important!
Increased amount of work and time required when attempting to change or reset the time in the PCM2 or in the instrument cluster after the PCM2 update but BEFORE the Satellite vehicle location has been loaded in the GPS receiver.
> After updating the PCM2 to software version "3.0" or after disconnecting the battery, the wrong time will be displayed in the PCM2 and in the instrument cluster.
The cause for this is missing satellite information (e.g., for the time) which is stored in the memory in the GPS receiver..
> If the time has been changed before loading the vehicle location, the wrong time will be displayed after loading the vehicle location.
7.8 Park the vehicle outside of the workshop building for approx. 30 mm with the PCM2 switched on and with good satellite reception. (good satellite reception = at least 5 satellites: display of number of satellites in PCM2 display in the Navigation mode, Selection menu --> Status), The GPS vehicle location will be completely loaded within this time period. Sometimes just parking vehicle outside doesn't work and may require a short drive. After this has been done, the time in the PCM2 can be changed or reset as usual (see 911 Carrera (996) Technical Information Bulletin Grp. 9 # 18/03)
After updating the PCM2, only the NAVTECH CD corresponding to the software version of the PCM2 can be used.
PCM2 software version "2.0":
NAVTECH 2002.1 (east or west coast)
PCM2 software version "3.0"
NAVTECH 2003.1 (east or west coast)
After the update is finished, the software versions for RCM2 and BOSE amplifier can be read out with the PCM2 switched on - as is described under step 1 and 2.
