Engine: Tools and Equipment
Tools, Removing and installing engine as from MY 02Special tools
Adjusting tools, Tiptronic transmission
Note;
- If the special tool retainer plate 9592 is being used for the first time, 4 additional threaded bores must be integrated.
1. Lay the support plate 9592/1 on the reverse side of the retainer plate 9592 and screw into place at the 4 threaded bores provided using 4 hexagon-head bolts M8x25.
2. Countersink the retainer plate at the designated bores for 996 -arrows- with a 9 mm drill bit. The support plate serves as the drilling template. Then unscrew the 4 screws again and lay the support plate to one side.
3. Drill through the countersunk points on the retainer plate -arrows- with a steel drill bit sized 6.8 mm and then cut an M8 thread. During removal of the engine, fit the retainer plate 9592 on the take-up points on the underside of the engine.
4. Fit the support for the Tiptronic transmission -C1- (and if necessary the spacer plate for the tolerance compensation -C2- ) with 3 wooden screws (2 screws 6x20 and 1 screw 8x25) to the support plate 9592/1.

5. Screw special tool adapter 9163/2 to the retainer plate with 4 hexagon-head bolts M8x25 (screw size 10.9) in the designated position -996- on the support plate. Screw the support plate 9592/1 on the underside of the retainer plate 9592 with 4 hexagon-head bolts M8x20 (screw size 8.8) in the position designated -9592-.
