Tire Mounting W/ Conventional Mounting Machines
Instructions / tools
- In order to avoid paint damage, cover the rim flange with adhesive tape after pressing off.
- A holding down device - special tool 9593 is required for tire removal/mounting. Furthermore, the end of the mounting lever should be flattened and then rounded (arrow).
Tire mounting
- Clamp wheel and coat inside of wheel and both tire beads with mounting paste. The rubber valve must be replaced each time a tire is mounted. When fitting tires, the direction of rotation and the inner and outer sides should be noted if necessary.
Important: Use only TIP TOP Universal, order No. 593 0601 (3.5 kg bucket) or Contifix as the tire mounting paste. See General tire mounting instructions for important information about these tire mounting pastes.
- Set mounting tool to the correct distance.
- Fit the first tire bead following the usual procedure.
- At the start of the mounting process for the second bead, the mounting arm should be positioned opposite to the valve. Then place the second tire bead on the tire as flat as possible, guide over the mounting head and hold down offset by approximately 90 - 120° with special tool 9539.
During the rotation and mounting of the second bead, the tire bead must be held in the well base with a second tire mounting lever and special tool 9539.
Note It may be necessary (depending on the tire/wheel combination) to position the additional tire mounting lever below the hump.
- The beads must pop over the hump when the tire is being filled - at the latest when 3.0 bar excess pressure is reached.
If necessary, coat the tire with mounting paste again.
Tire removal
- Adjust the mounting head as for mounting (Figure 539_97).
- Press off tire on both sides. Coat tire and the rim flange with mounting paste.
- Lift the first side of the tire over the mounting head (Figure 537_97). Place a cloth or piece of leather between the wheel and mounting lever. Furthermore, make sure that the tire is held in the well base opposite to the removal head.
Use special tool 9539 for this purpose.
- Remove the second side of the tire following the usual procedure.
