General Information

The chassis of the new 911 Carrera (997) and 911 Carrera S (997) corresponds to that of the previous 911 Carrera (996) model from a design standpoint.

The main objective when it came to tuning the chassis was the increase in performance. The revised standard chassis tuning gives the new 911 Carrera/S much sportier performance than the previous model, without affecting driving comfort.

The 911 Carrera S is equipped with the PASM chassis as standard equipment, optional on the 911 Carrera.

The increased performance of the new tire generation in particular means that the 911 Carrera/S can transmit significantly higher forces to the road in longitudinal and transverse direction. This results in increased requirements for the chassis as a whole and particularly for the axle components. In addition to the basic chassis, additional options are available for the 911 Carrera and the 911 Carrera S: the Sports chassis, 10mm lower on the 911 Carrera (standard on the S) and 20 mm lower on the 911 Carrera S, both with mechanical rear differential lock.
