NOTE:

An external antenna can be retrofitted on the roof of the vehicles specified above for improved AM reception. In this case, one of the two ultra-short wave antennas on the windshield (antenna diversity) is no longer needed.

The standard electric wire harness for the external antenna is included in the scope of delivery.

Only the antenna wire (HF line) for the external antenna/antenna diversity control unit and the power supply line for the external antenna/PCM are required for subsequent installation. These must be disconnected from the standard wire harness. The other wires will not be needed.

2. Make a hole for the antenna base.

2.1 Mask area --> Figure 3-A- for the drilling position with adhesive tape.

NOTE: Measure the marking again before drilling.

2.2 Mark the drilling position on the adhesive tape (see dimensions below).

Dimension "X" = approx. 455.00 mm, centered with respect to the roof width;

Dimension "Y" = 42.5 mm from edge of rear-window roof seam

2.3 Drill a hole at the point of intersection of the marked lines using a steel drill bit (diameter =2 mm) and drill it out to a diameter of 19 mm using a paring drill bit.

2.4 Pull off adhesive tape, de-burr bore hole and remove metal filings.

NOTE: Make sure that no paint drops into the passenger compartment. Protect vehicle interior with protective film.

2.5 Carry out measures for maintaining long-term body protection. --> Workshop Manual '501000 Corrosion protection measures during repairs'

3. Install external antenna.

NOTE: Pay attention to the installation position. Positioning bolts (Figure 5, Item -A-) on the antenna base must engage in the holes (Item -B-) in the seal.

3.1 Guide seal over both connectors - while observing the correct installation position - and position it on the antenna base.

3.2 Screw antenna rod hand-tight into the antenna base.

3.3 Insert both connectors through the bore hole and position the antenna base. Slide fastening nuts over the connectors and screw them onto the antenna base.

NOTE: An assistant is required to help with aligning and securing. The seal must make contact all the way around on the antenna base (--> Figure 6, Arrow).
