Checking Piston Wear
Check piston wear
1. Clean removed pistons with solvent naphtha. For detecting the dimensional group (nailed onto piston crown), carbon deposits must be removed carefully, e.g. with a brass brush.
2. Check piston diameter -D- on oil piston shank with micrometer gauge. Measured from the lower edge of the shank, the height -X- on the shank is 16 mm.
Information
- If the wear limit is exceeded, the piston must be replaced!
The maximum wear allowed on specified measuring point is 100 microns (= 0.1 mm). If this measurement is exceeded, the piston must be replaced. The reference measurements for the piston dimensional groups are to be taken from the following table!
Information
- Original pistons are only available in the dimensional group X.
- Please observe different weight groups!
