Body Control Module: Testing and Inspection

Teaching display and operator control unit (PCM 2)

NOTE:
- If a new PCM is to be installed in a vehicle, the PCM2/CDR23 code specified in IPAS must be used.
- You can get the codes from IPAS or from your importer by specifying the vehicle identification number.
- If possible, before the PCM is removed and replaced, a read-out of the vehicle data should be obtained using the Porsche System Tester.
- During coding, the power supply for the Porsche System Tester should be guaranteed. Connect a battery charging unit to the vehicle battery.
- Symbol for the TAB key = ->|
- Instructions for the Porsche System Tester have a higher priority and are to be followed where descriptions deviate. Deviations may occur with later software versions (as of 15.0).
- The procedure given here has been structured in general terms; different texts or additions may be displayed in the Porsche System Tester.

1. Connect the Porsche System Tester to the vehicle and start the System Tester. Switch ignition on. >> to continue.
2. Select vehicle type using the cursor keys.
3. Using the >> key, move from the vehicle type to the list of control units.
4. Select PCM2 with the cursor keys and press the >> key.
5. In the menu PCM2 , select PCM2 MMI with the cursor keys and press the >> key.
6. Select Control unit replacement with the cursor keys and press the >> key.
7. Select Read coding with the cursor keys and press the >> key.
8. The message Coding read-out complete will appear on the screen of the Porsche System Tester. Press the >> key.
9. Switch off ignition and replace the PCM2.
10. Switch on ignition. After replacement of the PCM2, the vehicle data is installed under the menu Write in coding. Press the >> key.
11. System Tester displays Coding write-in complete . Press the >> key.
12. Follow the instructions of the tester.

NOTE: In the case of a new PCM2, continue under Step 13.

13. In the menu PCM2 GW select Coding and press >>.
14. In the menu Coding select Production mode and press >>.
15. Select Production mode Off and confirm with the F8 key.
16. In the menu PCM2 GW select MOST actual installed components list.

NOTE:
- In the MOST actual installed components list the installed components detected are displayed.
- The installed components detected from the MOST actual installed components list is compared with the MOST required installed components list.

17. In the menu PCM2 GW select MOST required installed components list.
18. If the items in the actual list differ from those in the required list, update the MOST required installed components list to the status of the MOST actual installed components list by coding.
19. Quit the menu PCM2 GW << , read out the fault memory and erase if necessary.
20. Quit the menu PCM2 << .

NOTE:
- Switch on the PCM2. If the PCM2 cannot be switched on, or the PCM2 switches on but no music can be heard, switch off the ignition, remove the ignition key, close the doors and lock the vehicle. Wait until the alarm system LED flashes normal . Unlock the vehicle and switch on the PCM2 again.
- Should the PCM2 still not switch on after this procedure, proceed in accordance with the Technical Manual.
