Basic Scope of Equipment, CDR 24 CD Radio with Sound System
The Boxster/S (987) line is equipped with the new CDR 24 CD radio as standard equipment. This radio has the same technical features as the previous CDR 23 CD radio, but now has a considerably larger control panel which provides for markedly improved clarity and operation. In addition, the radio comes in the standard white interior lighting color, which enhances the appearance substantially. All the previous features, such as double tuner, 30 presets (20 FM, 10 MW, plus 9 for Autostore), background traffic station, high-end CD drive etc., have been retained from the previous Boxster/S (986) models.
The new interior has enabled new, higher quality speakers are installed on the dashboard, while the doors each house one 165 mm low frequency speaker, ensuring an excellent sound even in the basic version.
Sound Package Plus (optional)
The Porsche Sound Package Plus is available as the first upgrade option for the new Boxster/S (987). With it's 7 speakers and external analog amplifier, it offers a superior sound experience and plentiful sound reserves for all driving conditions. This is ensured by using large, superior quality loudspeakers.

Speakers
The tweeters and mid-frequency speakers are powered by the 2 x 25 W power amplifier integrated in the CDR 24 CD radio. An external analog amplifier which is accommodated in the luggage compartment powers the low-frequency speakers (2 x 70 W) and the center speaker (40 W). Extensive tuning work has been carried out on the amplifiers to adapt them to the Boxster's specific interior acoustics.
