Removing And Installing Roof Liner

Preliminary work

1. Remove right and left side trim panels. Refer to Removing and installing side trim panel.
2. Remove windstop. Refer to Removing and installing windstop.

Removing roof liner

Loosening roof liner connection to tension bow

1. Press out plastic expansion rivets -1- at the roof liner connection -2- on the right and left of the tension bow -3-.







Move convertible top to service position

1. Switch on ignition.
2. Open convertible top to dimension -X= 60 cm- from windscreen frame and switch off ignition.







Loosening cloth and cord from convertible top support

1. Unscrew fixing clip -1-, remove cord -2- and metal pad -3- and then pull cord upwards (right and left).







2. Disengage retaining straps -1- at left and right on hook of roof liner -2- -Arrow A-.







3. Pull hook of roof liner -2- downwards and disengage from the pin for the convertible top support -3- on right and left -Arrow B-.

INFORMATION: Two persons are needed to disengage and engage the convertible top mechanism.

4. Press ball socket of push rod -6- off the ball head of the main folding top bow on the right and left.







5. Carefully tip convertible top forward by hand until the convertible top frame touches the windscreen frame.
6. Pull out tightening strip -1- from ball pin of main folding top bow -2- on right and left.







INFORMATION: Two persons are needed to disengage and engage the convertible top mechanism.

7. Move convertible top to its original position and press ball socket of push rod -6- onto ball head of main folding top bow.







Loosening roof liner

1. Unclip roof liner -1- downwards at front and in centre from bar of roof frame -2-, starting from the outside.







2. Open Velcro fasteners -1- on the push rod -2- right and left.







3. Disengage cord -1- of roof liner at buffer -2- on right and left B-pillar.







4. Open Velcro fastener -1- on tension strap -2- right and left.







5. Remove surrounding section -1- of roof liner -2- from corner bow -3-.







6. Pull out tightening strip -2- of roof liner -1- outwards from main folding top bow -3-.







Installing roof liner

1. Pull tightening strip -2- of roof liner -1- into the main folding top bow -3- and position it centrally and at the sides.







2. Position roof liner -2- centrally on corner bow -3- and press into surrounding section -1-.







3. Place Velcro fastener -1- around tension strap -2- and press together (right and left).







4. Engage cord -1- of roof liner at buffer -2- on right and left B-pillar.







5. Secure Velcro fasteners -1- to the push rod -2- right and left. To do this, position the loop up to the seam of the Velcro strip and press the Velcro firmly together.







6. Clip roof liner -1- upwards in centre and at front onto bar of roof frame -2-, starting from the inside.







Fastening cloth and cord to convertible top support

INFORMATION: Two persons are needed to disengage and engage the convertible top mechanism.

1. Press ball socket of push rod -6- off the ball head of the main folding top bow on the right and left.







2. Carefully tip convertible top forward by hand until the convertible top frame touches the windscreen frame.
3. Pull tightening strip -1- outwards and engage with the third full slit over the ball pin on the main folding top bow -2- on right and left.







INFORMATION: Two persons are needed to disengage and engage the convertible top mechanism.

4. Move convertible top to its original position and press ball socket of push rod -6- onto ball head of main folding top bow.







5. Pull hook of roof liner -1- downwards -Arrow A- and engage in the pin for the convertible top support -2- on right and left.







6. Engage retaining straps -3- left and right on hook of roof liner -1- -Arrow B-.
7. Thread cord on pin -5- at bottom -(inset)-, fit cord -2- in the fixing clip -1- and fasten metal pad -3- to convertible top support with water drip pan -4- (right and left).

Do this in the following sequence: Fixing clip -1-, cord -2-, metal pad -3- and water drip pan -4-.







8. Switch on ignition.
9. Close convertible top and switch off ignition.

Fastening roof liner connection to tension bow

1. Press plastic expansion rivets -1- at the roof liner connection -2- through the fastening holes of the cloth into the tension bow -3- on the left and right.







Subsequent work

1. Install the windstop. Refer to Removing and installing windstop.
2. Install right and left side trim panels. Refer to Removing and installing side trim panel.
