The usable refill capacity of the tank is 16.9 gal (64 liters). Similar to the previous model, the tank is filled via a filler neck over the right front wheel. Apart from minor modifications to details, the tank has been directly adopted from the previous Boxster/S. The fuel delivery unit integrated in the tank is designed to allow the fuel volume stored in the tank to be used without misfires even in dynamic driving situations.

The tank system for the USA is a completely new development. The Boxster/S are equipped with a higher capacity fuel pump. Instead of a conventional high-density polyethylene, the tank now features a special six-layer structure incorporating different layers consisting of polyethylene, bonding agents and a highly effective diffusion barrier. This further reduces long-term HC emissions.
