The electrical power for the Boxster/S (987) is supplied from a battery in the front luggage compartment. As on the previous Boxster/S (986) models, it is installed in the middle of the radiator tank.

The battery characteristics are as follows:

Rated voltage 12 V
Capacity 70 Ah
Low temperature test current 280 A

NOTE: In order to protect the car battery from damage during transportation of the vehicle and while the vehicle is in the dealership's inventory, up to the time of sales inspection prior to customer delivery, vehicles delivered from the end of August 2004 are provided with a battery disconnecting switch. The battery disconnecting switch disconnects the vehicle's battery from the vehicle electrical system automatically, as soon as a preset voltage threshold is exceeded for a duration of 10 minutes. The vehicle electrical system can be switched on again by way of a switch lever. The vehicle electrical system can also be switched off by way of the switch lever.

SAFETY:
- Danger of accidents when driving with Installed battery disconnecting switch.
- It is not permissible to drive on public roads with the battery disconnecting switch installed.
- Before handing over the vehicle to the customer, the battery disconnecting switch must be removed in the course of the sales inspection.
