In terms of the essential design concept, the chassis of the new Boxster (987) and Boxster S (987) corresponds to that of the previous Boxster/S (986) models.
The main objective when it came to tuning the chassis was to further enhance performance. The standard chassis has been revised with a wider track, larger wheel and tire combinations and a reduction in weight to provide the new Boxster with even sportier performance than the previous model, while maintaining the same standard of driving comfort. The increased performance of the new tire generation in particular means that the Boxster can transmit significantly higher forces to the road in longitudinal and transverse direction.
In addition to the standard chassis, a chassis option is available for the Boxster, in the form of the PASM chassis (Porsche Active Suspension Management, including lowering of the vehicle by 10 mm). This results in an extremely variable and particularly sporty chassis.
