W551 - Replacing Brake Pads

Squealing from front or rear axle brake pads.

Information:

This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Service Action on certain 2005 model year Boxster (987) and Boxster S (987) vehicles. Due to the possibility of brake pad squeal, the affected brake pads on the following Boxster (987) and Boxster 5 (987) models must be replaced:

- Boxster (987), replace front brake pads only.
- Boxster S (987), replace rear brake pads only.

Therefore, we ask that the brake pads, front or rear of the affected vehicles listed below be replaced while the vehicle remains in your new-car inventory.

Affected Vehicles:

A total of 238 U.S. and 16 Canadian vehicles fall within the scope of this Service Action.

Not every vehicle in the below listed ranges may be affected. Use the ranges below as a general guideline. Refer to Attachment "A" to determine if a particular vehicle is eligible for this service action. Alternatively, the VIN can be checked in the Porsche e-DCS/WWS for confirmation of an open service action.





The affected Vehicle Identification Numbers are contained in the VIN Ranges shown.

Work Procedure: See Attachment "B"

Time Allowance:

80 TU, Replace front/rear brake pads, includes: Removing and installing both front/rear wheels.
