Work Procedure

1. Preparatory work.

1.1 Remove glove compartment (POSES, Workshop Manual, Group 6: 68 15 19).

1.2 Remove left cover for center console (POSES, Workshop Manual, Group 6: 68 14 19).

1.3 Remove display and PCM operator control unit (POSES, Workshop Manual, Group 9: 91 10 19).

1.4 Remove trim panel on right and left B-pillar (POSES, Workshop Manual, Group 7: 70 67 19).

1.5 Remove trim panel on right A-pillar (POSES, Workshop Manual, Group 7: 70 57 19).

1.6 Vehicles with BOSE Surround sound system (I No. 680) ONLY: Remove subwoofer.

1.6.1 Remove locking pins for right and left backrest.

1.6.2 Unclip both covers of the loudspeakers.

1.6.3 Unscrew both Torx screws.

1.6.4 Pull subwoofer slightly forward and pull off connector.

1.7 Remove both rear side trim panels (POSES, Workshop Manual, Group 7: 70 75 191.

1.8 Remove trim panel of rear wall.

1.9 Unclip trim panel on right and left C-pillar at the top (POSES, Workshop Manual, Group 7: 70 68 191.

1.10 Disengage rear roof trim panel and on the right side (POSES, Workshop Manual, Group 7: 70 84 19).

2. Drill hole for antenna mounting.





2.1 Cover area (A) for the hole position with adhesive tape.





2.2 Mark hole position on adhesive tape (see following dimensions).

Dimension "X" = approx. 455.0 mm center to roof width

Dimension "Y" = 42.5 mm from edge of rear window roof fold

Note!
Measure twice before drilling.

2.3 Drill a pilot hole with diameter 2 mm steel drill bit on the center of the marked lines and drill out with a hole saw to diameter 19 mm.

2.4 Remove adhesive tape, deburr bore hole, and vacuum drilling fragments.

2.5 Carry out measures for maintaining long-term body protection, see POSES, Workshop Manual, Group 5: 50 IN.

Important!
Make sure that no paint drips in the passenger compartment. Cover the interior with a protective drop cloth.

3. Install roof antenna.

3.1 Slide connector through the hole in the seal and position the seal on the antenna base.





Note!
Observe installation position, the studs (A) on the antenna base must engage in the holes (B) of the seal.

3.2 Screw in antenna rod in antenna base hand tight.

3.3 Slide connector through the bore hole, position antenna base, slide the fastening nut over the connector and screw on.

3.4 Center roof antenna to the vehicle's longitudinal axis and tighten fastening nut.





Note!
An second person is necessary for aligning and tightening the antenna. The seal (arrow) must be in contact on all sides on the antenna base. Tightening torque: 8 Nm [6 ft-lb.l

4. Install wire harness.





4.1 Remove antenna lead (roof antenna) from connector (A1 chamber 2 and disconnect diversity antenna lead (B) with connector (A1 from wire harness.

Note!
Diversity antenna lead and connector from retrofit kit are not needed.





4.2 Install and secure electrical wiring harness. Roof antenna -> through rear roof frame -> along right roof frame, to do this, remove and mount retaining clip (A) -> A-pillar -> along wire harness for heating/fresh air unit -> antenna lead to antenna diversity CU (B) -> lead (No. 8300) WH 0.5sq further to installation opening for PCM (C).

4.3 Connect wire (No. 8300) WH 0.5sq to 8-pin connector A (PCM).

4.3.1 Pull locking pin from connector housing.

4.3.2 Press out socket contact of wire (No. 8242) WH 0.35sq from 8-pin connector A (PCM) chamber 5 using press-out tool 93001 and separate.

4.3.3 Bundle wire (NO. 8300) from retrofit kit and wire (No. 8242) (vehicle side) and crimp with a new socket contact (999.652.959.121.

4.3.4 Insert socket contact in the 8-pin connector A (PCM) chamber 5.

Note!
Ensure socket contact is seated securely.

4.3.5 Push locking pin into connector housing.

4.4 Connect antenna lead to antenna diversity CU.

4.4.1 Open Velcro fastener from carpet under the center console.

4.4.2 Pull off connector (A) from antenna diversity CU.

4.4.3 Pull locking pin (B) from connector.

4.4.4 Remove diversity antenna lead for right windshield antenna (C) from chamber 1.





4.4.5 Remove diversity antenna lead for left windshield antenna (Figure 009, Item D) from chamber 2 and install in chamber 1.

4.4.4 Insert antenna lead (roof antenna) from retrofit kit in connector (antenna diversity CU) chamber 2.

4.4.7 Insert locking pin in the connector and insert connector on antenna diversity CU.

4.5 Connect wire harness to roof antenna.





4.5.1 Slide protective tube (A) (996.423.101.00) over connector.

4.5.2 Connect switch lead (B) and the antenna lead (C) from retrofit kit with the switch lead (B) and the antenna lead (C) from the antenna base.

4.5.3 Slide protective tube over the connector and route in roof frame.

5. Complete the vehicle.

5.1 Engage headliner on the right side and rear (POSES, Workshop Manual, Group 7: 70 84 19).

5.2 Clip trim panel on right and left C-pillar at the top (POSES, Workshop Manual, Group 7: 70 68 19).

5.3 Install trim panel of rear wall.

5.4 Install both rear side trim panels (POSES, Workshop Manual, Group 7: 70 75 19).

5.5 Vehicles with BOSE Surround sound system (I No. 680) ONLY, install subwoofer.

.5.1 Insert connector onto subwoofer, position subwoofer and slide to the rear.

5.5.2 Tighten both Torx screws and clip covers on the loudspeakers.

5.5.3 Install locking pins for right and left backrest.

Tightening torque: 50 Nm (37 ft-lb.)

5.5 Install trim panel on right A-pillar (POSES, Workshop Manual, Group 7: 70 57 19).

5.7 Install trim panel on right and left B-pillar (POSES, Workshop Manual, Group 7: 70 67 19).

5.8 Install display and PCM operator control unit (POSES, Workshop Manual, Group 9: 91 10 19).

5.9 Install left cover for center console (POSES, Workshop Manual, Group 6: 68 14 19).

5.10 Install glove compartment (POSES, Workshop Manual, Group 6: 68 15 19).

6. Perform a function test.
