Preliminary work

Preliminary work
1. Raise the vehicle at the prescribed jacking points.
2. Remove rear right wheel.
3. Remove support plate.
4. Unscrew fastening nuts for restraining cables and remove restraining cables from crossmember.
5. Retaining device P 9624/1 must then be screwed to crossmember, then turn spindle upwards and support engine.

Dismantling
1. Loosen fastening screws between anti-roll bar and rear axle carrier side panel and fold anti-roll bar forward.

Information: Protect drive shafts against mechanical damage (e.g. with a rubber hose which has been cut open).

2. Remove right drive shaft on transmission side. For this purpose, unscrew six hexagon socket screws between the drive shaft and the transmission flange, respectively. Counter on the brake disc or activate the parking brake to avoid simultaneous turning.

3. Unscrew fastening screws between the transmission support and the transmission.

Information: The front transmission support cannot be removed. It can only be moved for better access.

4. Unscrew fastening screws between the body and the hydraulic mount -arrow-.

5. Unscrew fastening screws for coolant pipes.

6. Unscrew retaining screw between the transmission and the coolant pipe.

Draining oil for final drive

Warning: Risk of scalding from hot oil

--> Let the oil cool down
--> Wear personal protective gear (goggles, gloves)

1. Place oil collection pan under the transmission.
2. Unscrew fastening screw for halfshaft flange. To do this, screw two drive shaft screws into the halfshaft flange for countering purposes and loosen fastening screw.

3. Remove the halfshaft flange.

Information:
^ The coolant line holder and coolant line can be pulled down slightly for easier access to screw no. 3.
^ Use a Torx socket wrench insert with a minimum length of 120 mm to loosen or tighten screw no. 5.

4. Screw out lid screws in the sequence -12 to 1-.

5. Loosen lid by tapping lightly on the final drive housing and drain the oil.

Replenishing oil for final drive

Topping up oil for final drive
1. Coat new toroidal sealing ring on lid with oil and place onto lid.
2. Place lid on transmission.
3. Screw in lid screws -1, 2 and 3- and tighten by hand.

4. Screw in lid screws in the following order -1 to 12- and tighten.





5. Insert halfshaft flange.
6. Screw in fastening screw for halfshaft flange. For this purpose, screw in two drive shaft screws to counter and tighten fastening screw.

7. Unscrew oil filler screw.

Information: Filling must be carried out very slowly because there is a dust plate in the cover of the final drive.

8. Fill in transmission oil up to the bottom edge of the filler opening.





9. Clean oil filler screw and screw in.





Assembly work
1. Screw in retaining screw between the transmission and the coolant pipe.

2. Screw in fastening screws for coolant pipes.

3. Screw tight right transmission support with hydraulic mount.





4. Fit drive shaft on transmission side. For this purpose, tighten six hexagon socket screws between the drive shaft and the transmission flange, respectively. Counter on the brake disc or activate the parking brake to avoid simultaneous turning.

5. Screw in fastening screws between anti-roll bar and rear axle carrier side member.

Subsequent work

Subsequent work

1. Remove holding device P 9624/1 from the crossmember.





Special tool

2. Fit restraining cables to crossmember.





3. Install sheetmetal brace.
4. Install right wheel.
5. Lower the vehicle.
