Headlight Washer Nozzle Loose (Option I No. 288)
Vehicle Type:
Boxster (987)/Boxster S (987)
Model Year:
2005
Concern:
Nozzle head on headlight washer (Option I No. 288) can become loose,
Information:
In wintery weather conditions, repeated freezing and thawing of the headlight washer system can cause the nozzle head to become loose in the catch in the headlight washer nozzle and be pushed upwards out of its normal position (Figure 1).
The nozzle head (Figure 2) can engage in up to five positions in the catch. This is designed to prevent the nozzle from bursting when it freezes.
Note!
If the nozzle head projects more than 25 mm above the front apron (Figure 2, Arrow 2), the nozzle head can pop out and fall off when the headlight washer is actuated,
If you discover that a nozzle head is projecting over the normal position out of the frost apron on the vehicle, move the nozzle head in question back to its normal position as described in "Action Required".
Action Required:
Press the nozzle head, which is out of its normal position (Figure 1), downwards slightly with your thumbs until it clicks into place. Depending on how much the nozzle head is projecting out of the front apron, the nozzle head will be back it its normal position after max. 5 notches (Figure 1).
